Willowglen Cabernet Merlot

Season

Spring rains and warmer-than-normal temperatures gave the energy and conditions to produce a good crop on healthy vines. The harvest period was predominantly dry, with warm temperatures allowing the fruit to ripen in a timely manner with good flavours.

Tasting Note

This blend offers a vivid spectrum of ripe red plum and cranberry compote, elegantly interwoven with notes of clove spice integrated by the sweetness and complexity of subtle oak.

Winemaking

The rich berry fruit of the Cabernet Sauvignon, entwined with the smooth plum characters of the Merlot, makes for good companions in this blend. Each variety is harvested separately and then fermented on skins for 5-7 days at 23-27ºC to allow each variety to show its individual fresh berry flavours, ripe tannins. American and French oak were used for maturation.
