Hogmanay, pronounced "hog·muh·nei," is Scotland's famous New Year's Eve celebration. Erica Dorn's bespoke designs unveil some of the distinctive customs associated with Scotland's Hogmanay, including the tradition of "first footing." In this tradition, it's considered good luck for a dark-haired visitor to be the first person to cross a home's threshold after midnight. The "first footer" typically brings three symbolic gifts: shortbread, whisky, and coal for the fire. Each gift symbolizes bringing comfort and happiness to the household for the upcoming year.
