Tasting note: Flawless bright amber gold. The aroma takes a good ten minutes to open up but never gets beyond moderate intensity. Notes of pickled onion and brine in the opening stages are gradually eclipsed by suggestions of bitter-sweet dark chocolate. Five minutes in the glass doesn’t stimulate the bouquet dramatically adding hints of olive bread and sea breeze to the mix. A water like entry builds to moderate concentration with an appealing salty burst at mid palate, remaining light to medium bodied throughout; a delicate salt’n’pepper vibrancy towards the finish is rounded off with a subtle liquorice bullet twist that revives the meek malty fade.
